Warren G. Harding"Return to Normalcy"

Warren Gamaliel Harding was born November 2, 1865. He worked as a newspaper publisher and editor in Marion, Ohio, before entering politics, serving as a state senator, Lieutenant Governor of Ohio, and then U.S. Senator. He won the presidency in 1920 in a landslide, campaigning on a promise to return the country to pre-WWI stability after years of war and social upheaval. His presidency (1921–1923) saw genuine economic recovery, but was ultimately overshadowed by major scandals — most notably the Teapot Dome scandal, involving bribery over oil drilling rights — much of which came to light only after his sudden death from a heart attack in August 1923, while still in office.
