Biography
Gretchen Whitmer was elected Governor of Michigan in 2018 and re-elected in 2022. A former state legislator and prosecutor, she gained national prominence during the COVID-19 pandemic. She survived a 2020 kidnapping plot against her and is considered a leading national Democratic figure. She cannot seek a third term.
