David J. Brewer

David J. Brewer was the nephew of sitting Justice Stephen Field when Benjamin Harrison appointed him, and went on to author the Court’s unanimous 1908 opinion in Muller v. Oregon, which relied heavily on social-science evidence in upholding labor protections for women.
