James Clark McReynolds was another of the conservative "Four Horsemen" who opposed New Deal legislation, and is remembered as well for open, documented bigotry toward his Jewish and Black colleagues — refusing, for instance, to sit for the Court’s official photograph the year Justice Cardozo joined.
