The U.S. House of Representatives

How are House seats distributed among states?

House seats are apportioned among the 50 states based on population, as measured by the U.S. Census conducted every 10 years. After each census, seats may be redistributed β€” states that grew faster than average may gain seats, while states that grew slower may lose them. Every state is guaranteed at least one House seat regardless of population.
